Role Summary

Intermediate Java Developer with 3+ years relevant experience conversant in the following server side technologies:

  • Tomcat / JBoss / WebLogic / WebMethods etc
  • Java servlets
  • JSP
  • JSTL
  • Frameworks (Spring etc)
  • Pattern based development
  • noSQL datastores
  • SQL relational databases
  • AJAX
  • XML / XSLT
  • JUnit testing


As a Java Developer in the team, you need to be able to design and communicate complex software architectures.  You need to turn requirements into Agile sprints, develop mature well tested and maintainable software and as a Scrum master run a sprint to its conclusion.  We also want you to help mentor junior software engineers.

Mandatory Skills

  • Able to work in small Agile teams with other developers, project managers and stakeholders
  • Able to communicate technical concepts clearly to team members
  • Able to commit to deadlines / sprint outcomes and deliver and demonstrate tested software.
  • Able to estimate time to complete tasks based on stories / requirements
  • Use of Eclipse, IntelliJ or equivalent IDE
  • Be able to construct sequence diagrams, UML, workflow diagrams,  etc
  • Agile / Scrum team experience / methodologies
  • Strong source code control / release management skills including: git, maven, artifactory
  • Working knowledge of HTML / CSS, HTML5 / CSS3
  • Working knowledge of JQuery / Javascript
  • AJAX
  • Good documentation skills

Desirable Skills

  • Google App Engine experience
  • Google High Replication Datastore (HRD) - noSQL experience
  • Google Cloud Storage
  • Google APIs (OAuth, Maps, Cloud Endpoints, Google Apps etc)
  • Have built single page web apps using the above technologies
  • Have experience with a MV* client framework such as AngularJS.
  • Experience of using Chrome Developer Tools
  • Linux experience (RedHat, Centos or Fedora)
  • Amazon AWS Cloud experience
  • Experience with Atlassian suite including Jira, Confluence and Greenhopper
  • Stakeholder management
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
  • Proactive in your approach to customer service
  • Ability to work hard and deliver results to tight deadlines
