Matt Penton, one of Appsbroker’s Business Analysts, ran the Devizes half marathon on Sunday 8th April to raise money for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance (WAA).

Matt is a guide runner for Ryan Simões-Hibberd - a good friend of his who is completely blind. Ryan lost his sight in 2009 following a car accident in which the WAA saved his life. Ryan refuses to let his disability get in his way and his determination is remarkable - as evidenced by the fact that this was only his second half marathon!

The pair clocked up over 120 miles in training; and when the Bath & Reading Half Marathons were cancelled due to the snow, they laughed in the face of that adversity and entered the Devizes Half - a Wiltshire Air Ambulance event. In recognition of their achievement, Appsbroker has made a donation to the WAA - a life-saving service that needs £3.25 million a year to keep flying.

Matt and Ryan finished in 2 hrs 12 mins, a time they were both pleased with - especially considering that the course is known as hillmageddon!
