How Sky developed ambitious cloud security plans with a tailored Google Cloud roadmap
Year published: 2022
THE CUSTOMER
Sky is Europe’s largest media company and paid TV broadcaster, with 23 million subscribers and over 31,000 employees across the UK and Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy.
OUR ROLE
Sky needed an experienced Google Cloud partner to carry out an in-depth review into its Google Cloud and Workspace environment across multiple domains to inform its future cloud security roadmap.
THE CHALLENGE
Sky has undergone a data-driven cloud evolution at scale in recent years to support its extensive and growing customer base. However, with Google Workspace rolled out separately across the UK, Italy and Germany, it needed a way to centralise these, refine its operations, and unify its approach to security. Sky ultimately sought Appsbroker’s help to deliver a robust, end-to-end security solution.
THE SOLUTION
Appsbroker carried out a completely bespoke Cloud Security Posture Review for Sky. This involved assessing Sky’s existing footprint across three domains, including Google Cloud and Workspace, as well as its cloud identity and cloud operating model. From here we created a strategy to unify Sky’s approach to cloud security, consolidating where necessary to maximise efficiency.
THE RESULTS
From our detailed research and findings, Appsbroker created a tailored security approach for Sky to unify all three domains. Sky now has a clearly defined Cloud security roadmap for the future, enabling it to meet its ambitious goals on Google Cloud and ensure watertight security for years to come.
