How Gloucester Rugby Club secured the advantage with Google Cloud solutions

Gloucester Rugby is a successful, community-rooted English Premiership rugby club with a large supporter and membership base and a strong leisure and hospitality business operation. They operate in an intensely competitive sporting environment that depends on a strong, sustainable commercial base.
OUR ROLE
To support Gloucester’s ambitions of becoming a leading sports club digitally, Appsbroker provided a Google Secure Cloud Foundation platform for internal stakeholders to build a single customer view and become a secure data-enabled business.
THE CHALLENGE
Without a single customer view, having disparate sets of customer data in multiple locations restricts insights into customer sales, experience and engagement. Creating a single customer view brings security risks and compliance requirements, and with no previous experience with Google Cloud, the club required appropriate controls and knowledge to secure the service before it could be rolled out.
THE SOLUTION
Appsbroker provided Gloucester Rugby with a Google Secure Cloud Foundation. We implemented Google best practices and critical security controls with least privilege secure design for the data delivery on the Foundation using Big Query and Looker Data Studio. Security reviews were also carried out on the club’s existing environment with recommendations made for improvement and mitigation.
THE BENEFITS
Gloucester Rugby can now load and analyse customer data faster and in more detail to enable targeted marketing campaigns that drive revenue, improve customer engagement and boost fan loyalty. Thanks to its Google Secure Cloud Foundation, which can easily scale to include further data sources, Gloucester Rugby can also easily manage security risks and regulatory compliance.
