European Sports Brand – Apigee

About the Customer

This European sports brand designs and manufactures athletic and casual footwear, apparel, and accessories, reaching consumers through retail stores, online outlets, and authorised dealers, cementing its status in sports and fashion.

Our Role

Appsbroker was asked to prove the ability to perform real-time inventory from the existing Point of Sale (PoS) by utilising Apigee and its capacity to facilitate, govern, and analyse APIs securely.

The Challenge

The lack of real-time local stock data shown on the global e-commerce site and mobile app didn’t allow customers to collect items in-store. This increased the risk of missing out on upsell and basket abandonment, so the customer wanted to enable a click-and-collect option without replacing every PoS terminal.

The Solution

Appsbroker deployed Apigee to provide a front door that would query a location and its Stock Keeping Unit (SKU). The request was then proxied through a Cloud VPN to the location PoS instance to create a RESTful endpoint that resolved the issue. Creating a centralised API gateway meant that the customer’s PoS systems and cloud-based e-commerce and mobile applications could integrate seamlessly.

The Benefits

We helped the customer to integrate its Store and Ordering Systems with Apigee to enhance the customer experience by eliminating stockouts. Using Apigee also enabled them to streamline the integration, with greater capabilities and performance metrics needed to adapt quickly to changing business needs, by handling increasing API traffic, and seamlessly evolving its API infrastructure over time.
