Migrate & Automate optimises Google Cloud performance for GSK

Year published: 2023

ABOUT THE CUSTOMER

GSK is a global biopharma company with the ambition and purpose to unite science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together. GSK aims to positively impact the health of 2.5 billion people over the next 10 years. It’s bold ambitions for patients are reflected in new commitments to growth and a step-change in performance.

OUR ROLE

Appsbroker and the Google Professional Services Organisation (PSO) worked with the GSK Global Products & Tech (GP&T) team to deploy new policies and configs in an automated way to accelerate GSK’s Google Cloud journey at pace and scale.

THE CHALLENGE

GSK wanted help improving its Google Cloud Foundations platform by automating key steps using automated deployment patterns, address manually-created and configured organisational policies so that the platform can be secure, compliant and auditable to help GSK get more from its Google Cloud investment.

THE SOLUTION

The GSK org policies were updated, including the migration of over 200 policies, project, and folder exceptions. This solution made it easier for GSK users to make changes to the organisation’s policies, reduce duplication, prevent security violations at the organisation, folder and project level. The new automation DevOps process is a foundation to automate more deployments into Google Cloud.

THE BENEFITS

Previously, GSKs restriction configuration had to be managed manually per its org policy. Now, the customer has a more efficient method – a repeatable, single source configuration, with the option to make changes, so teams can audit and make changes more predictably. This scalable solution can be used across the business to reduce error rates, in a bid to save time and money.
